The first 2001 PIR Team meeting was held last night just prior to round one. Team Captain Lettie Hilles gave us a briefing on the details of this years event. Event Overview fliers which contain most of the info regarding scheduling, rules, etc. for the event were handed out. Motel accommodations were also discussed. If you are needing a room, the PIR Team Headquarters is the Mr. Sandman motel in Meridian, ID (approx. 8 miles from the track). There are 30 rooms set aside for us, but you will need to make your reservations no later than Sept. 1st. Lettie hammered these guys for a group rate. In order to take advantage of the special rate, you will need to tell them that you are a Portland International Raceway Team Member. Phone number for the Mr. Sandman motel is 1-800-959-2230.

I have asked several racers who have raced at Boise to send me some pointers or any helpful hints regarding the nuances of racing at Firebird Raceway. I will post them as soon as I receive. If anybody else has anything along these lines they would like to contribute, let me know and I'll post it here as well.

Next Team meeting: Wednesday August 29th. At PIR. This is a mandatory meeting for all Team members. 7:00 pm, 5:00 if rain.

If you have any questions, you can call Lettie at 503-644-5707.
