Send your positive vibes in a

I’ll post results as soon as I hear
something.

Kielman for winning the 2009 Division 6
championship in Stock Eliminator!

SEPTEMBER 18, 2009

Congratulations to Race of Champions
winners Kevin Bromley in Motorcycle and to Meghan Molinari for her win in Jr.
Thunder! And of course to all Team PIR
members for finishing third overall in the Division!
As you may know, the Sport Compact
class will be competing at the Team Race this weekend. Since SC is contested at PIR on Friday nights
– rather than Wednesday nights, some of you might not have had the chance to
meet your fellow racers. That being the
case, let me take this opportunity to introduce you to your teammates!

AUGUST 17, 2009.
As you may have noticed, I have
recently added some more new pics to the Picture
pages, and I will be adding more soon.
In addition to Carol’s offer, another of our track photographers, Jerry Roseburrough has offered the use of his pics
on this site as well! If you would like
me to post one of his pics here, just go to his
site, select your favorite shot of your car and send it to ME. As with Carol’s, when submitting Jerry’s pics, be sure to let me know he was the photographer so I
can give him credit.
Get ready for the National
Open! Remember, this event is open to
ALL bracket classes!

AUGUST 13, 2009.
Couple of things. First, with the final points race of the year
now behind us, let me take this opportunity to congratulate all of the 2009 PIR
Track Champions!

The final 2009 points standings are
now listed in the Results section. As
always, if you have any questions regarding points, please contact Pete. The final points listings have a yellow line
in each category. The names listed in
the yellow line and above are the racers who have qualified for the 2009
Division 6 Team Race. Racers who are
racing for Team PIR will need to attend the Team Race meeting next Wednesday
night (August 19) which will be held in the grandstands or at the base of the
tower at 7:00 (rain or shine).
Believe it or not, I have actually
updated part of the photo pages! While I
still need to add a few and replace a few, the Super/Pro section is almost up
to date! I’ll be working on the other
sections in the next week or so.
The Picture page updates are in the
works! While I have taken some new pics myself and have received a few submissions, I’m still
hoping that you the points racers will submit your favorite shot. To that end, Carol Brown has graciously
offered the use of any of her pictures!
Just go to her site,
select the picture you like best and send it to ME. When submitting pictures, please use the
subject ‘PIR picture’ and be sure to let me know who the photographer was so I
can give them credit. Please note (other
than Carol’s), I cannot post copyrighted pictures without written permission
from the photographer.
JULY 23, 2009
Okay, I knew the Pictures section
had been lacking in updates for a few years, but when it was pointed out to me
last night that there is a picture of Adam Tabor in a Junior Dragster still on
the site, I suppose it’s time I do something!
For the past two or three seasons, I have requested that you the
(points) racers submit your photos and I would post them. Even though people have been asking about when
that section was going to get updated, very few racers actually submitted pictures.
No promises as to how soon or even
if I will get to everybody, but now that I have a better camera, I will see
what I can do about some updates. That
said, my request remains – if you have a picture, just send it to ME and I will post it!
Congrats to long time PIR racer Gary
Ericksen for winning
Super Street (for the second time)
at the Northwest Nationals!!
Two in a row! Pro Bracket racers had
better look out – Greg Kielman is on a roll!
Congrats Greg for your win at the
Lucas Oil Series race in Spokane on June 14th!!
Jr. Dragster schedule change. Three more races have been added to the 2009
PIR
schedule – June 24, July 8 and 22.
Congrats to Greg Kielman for his win
in Stock Eliminator at the Lucas Oil Series race
in Mission on May 24th!!
Looking for a really cool ’41 Willys? Long time PIR racer Mark Saxe has decided to sell
his beautiful example. It is currently setup in “gasser” style, but
he has all the parts to
convert it back to an A-arm car.

For further information, contact
Mark at 503-313-6687
It was 35 years ago today that I
bought this 1967 Olds!
Back then it was yellow, all stock
and had been hit hard in the rear.
While I do still own the car,
unfortunately I will not be racing it tonight – but
perhaps I will later in the season
if a good sponsor comes along…….

WEDNESDAY, WEDNESDAY, WEDNESDAY!!!
Weather permitting of course, this
Wednesday night (March 25) will mark the beginning of the 2009 Bracket Racing
season. As always, if the weather looks questionable, call the track
(503-823-7223) before making the drive out there. Rain out or not, don’t forget the next
scheduled bracket race is this Sunday (March 29). See the schedule page for details. Along the lines of the schedule page, I have
recently updated it with the race dates for High School as well as for the
National Dragster Challenge and the Jr. Dragster Challenge. Please note for 2009, the Sport Compact
series will be run on Friday nights. Check
the PIR site for dates and details.
SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!
Unfortunately looking at the
forecast it looks more like Rain, Rain, Rain for the 2009 PIR Bracket Racing
Season Opener, but with fingers crossed, hopefully the rain will hold off until
Monday. If it looks iffy Sunday morning, call the track (503-823-7223) for the
official word.
The 2009 Bracket Racing schedule is
now posted. See the schedule page for details. The dates for
High School and Sport Compact races are still being fine tuned – check back
soon. I’ll also post the dates for the
National Dragster Challenge and for the Jr. Dragster Challenge as soon as they
are established.
In order to maintain a consistent
race program throughout the season, please note the two Sunday races in March
are now 1/8th mile events.
I’ve also updated the General Info section with a 2009 points signup
sheet and more.
The Racers Network website is up and
running! Through the efforts of Kathy
Corey, Lori Weber, Carol Brown and others, a website and forum has been created
to assist local racers who are feeling the pinch of the current economy. If you are currently looking for a job, have
a job opening, are looking for a place to sell things or would like to post a
link to your business, be sure to check out the Drag Racers Network
While there are still some vendor
spaces available for the 33rd Annual NWDRA Swap Meet, the final date
to mail in your application has come and gone.
If you are interested in a booth or if you need any further information,
please contact the swap meet committee at the phone or email listings below.
Time again for the NWDRA
Hi-Performance Automotive Swap Meet!
Please note the new location for the meet. If you’ve got some stuff taking up space in
your garage, this would be a perfect opportunity to turn it into cash! For a vendor registration form, click HERE. If you’d like an event flier to help promote
the meet, click HERE.

JANUARY 15, 2009
For those who were unable to attend
the service for Jean on Tuesday might be interested in visiting her online
memorial HERE
I’m afraid I have some sad news to
report. Jean Pettit passed away this past Monday. Jean of course was the wife
of long time PIR racer Rick and mother of PIR racers Scott and Frank. I’m sure many of you will also remember her
from working the ticket booth at the NWDRA swap meet or from helping at the
Team Races or from other race activities she helped with.
Cards and letters can be sent to
Rick at 1127 SE 213th Gresham OR 97030.
For those able to attend, the
funeral service will be held on Tuesday Jan. 13th at 2:00 pm at
Bateman Carroll in downtown Gresham (520 W Powell Blvd. Gresham OR 97030).
First, let me take this opportunity
to wish everybody a Happy 2009! It seems
hard to believe that this is the ninth year of this site, but here we are –
back for another round!
As with all previous years, all racers who are planning on running for points in the upcoming season are encouraged to submit any updates (new car, class, new sponsors, etc., etc.). Just send them to ME and I'll post them here in the News section. When submitting, please use the subject "Racer Update" and if possible, please try to keep the photo sizes under 300KB - and in jpeg format.
