History of the Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association.
OMRRA was incorporated as a C-3 Nonprofit Association in the State of Oregon in 1972. For the last 30 years it has been the only local amateur motorcycle racing venue to use PIR for motorcycle road racing. Motorcycles have changed dramatically over the past 30 years, especially in the last 15. What was considered a fast lap time at PIR in 1987 (1:15:00) is now mid to back of the pack. Lap times consistently run at 1:08:00 with front straight speeds reaching 185 mph's. (The motorcycles do not use the Festival Curves due to sheer numbers, and handling differences compared to cars, for whom the curves were designed).
The club has in the past, and currently hosts national Professional races during the racing season, with seasoned OMRRA volunteers managing the local operations and safety issues. The 650 member club is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers, except for an office position that is independently contracted. For information visit our website at:
