HIGH SCHOOL DRAGS
The predecessor to today's Street Legal Races at PIR was the High School Drags. Conceived as a way to reduce illegal street racing activities, while at the same time introducing a new generation to real drag racing. In 1973, the Benson High School Challenge was born.
While I don't know whatever happened to the band Airborne, but the High School Drags continues to be a popular event on the PIR schedule.
