In 1969 the track was shortened to 1.8 miles by using Force Ave. as turn one, rather than Lake Ave. This 1966 diagram shows the reconfiguring of the "circus" area of the road course as well as improvements to Cottonwood St. (aka the dragstrip). As part of the 1969 revamping, Cottonwood St was completely repaved for 1/8th mile drag racing.
